Essential Oils and Oleoresins

Essential oil is raw materials obtained from botanic sources such as flower buds, leaves, seeds, bask fruits and roots of plants. It is a concentrated liquid containing the volatile aroma compounds and contains the true essence of the plant it was derived from. They are highly concentrated aromatic oily liquids and is the most important component of the spice or herbal plant. These essential oils which are obtained by a process of distillation or extraction are generally high in value and very much in demand because it is totally natural offering the real benefits only essential oils can offer. With the recent growth in the aromatherapy market the demand for the product has increase immensely.

Oleoresins are the concentrated liquid obtained from the spices. It produces the character of the respective spice fully. The spice oils are the oils distilled off from the spices at the initial stage before subject to solvent extraction. Spice Oleoresins can be defined as the true essence of the spice which can be used to replace the use of actual spices keeping intact the original flavor and aroma. Spice oleoresins are largely used for flavoring of food particularly by large scale food processing and flavoring industries like meat canning, sauces, soft drinks, pharmaceutical preparations, perfumery and soap, tobacco, confectionery and bakery. Essential oils can be used in various end-use products.
