Clove Oil

Oil of cloves, also known as clove oil, is an essential oil from the clove plant. Clove is an evergreen tree, which produces a flower bud that has numerous medicinal properties. Clove is known to be rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, irons, phosphorous, sodium, potassium and vitamins A & C. Clove oils are categorized based on the specific plant part used for the oil distillation process.

 

Clove Bud Oil

The main chemical component of clove bud oil is eugenol. Clove oil has a warm, strong, spicy smell and the oil is pale yellow to brown with a medium to watery viscosity. It is an important commodity in the spice trade and is still used in perfumes, dental products and as insect repellant. It is useful for its disinfecting properties, relieving of pain, especially toothache, mouth sores, rheumatism and arthritis. It is effective when used for complaints of the digestion system. Clove bud oil can be used for acne, bruises, burns and cuts, keeping infection at bay and as a pain reliever.

 

Clove Stem Oil

Clove stem oil has a dark yellowish color compared to that of clove bud oil. Same as in the bud oil, the main chemical component of clove stem oil is eugenol. Uses are quite similar to those of clove bud oil, however, cheaper in price. It is used in perfumes, dental products an insect repellant. It is useful for its disinfecting properties, relieving of pain, especially toothache, mouth sores, rheumatism and arthritis. It is effective when used for complaints of the digestion system. Clove oil can also be used for acne, bruises, burns and cuts, keeping infection at bay and as a pain reliever.
